Letter of intent

Aurubis Bulgaria is a copper smelter which operates in Pirdop, Bulgaria. The main facilities, designed to processing copper concentrates to cathode copper and precious metals installed, are: flash smelting furnace, waste heat boiler, power plant, sulphuric acid plant, copper refinery.

The process in the Flash furnace is fully autogenously performed. The process gases are generated in the furnace and leave the furnace to enter in the waste heat boiler, where the accumulated heat is utilized by steam generation.

In order to utilize the energy of the steam in Power plant on 1987 was installed a steam turbine, designed to operate with saturated steam and generate 12 MW/h electricity.
Mainly because of changes in concentrate supplies, this turbine has not been in operation. A 72-hour commissioning test was held.

Now the variety of concentrates, supplied in the plant is completely different and the generated steam is not sufficient for effective operation of the turbine.
Aurubis intends to sell this turbine to potential bidders. They have to submit quotations for complete units or separately for turbine or generator. Any additional information related with this equipment is available including site visit for inspection.
