Established in Munich, Germany in 1917 the Arnold and Richter Cine Technik company transformed the filming of motion pictures across the world.
Still based in Munich, Arri now employ over 1200 staff and have a global network of rental option providers and agents and are the largest manufacturer and distributor of motion picture cameras, digital intermediate systems and lighting equipment in the world. They have a post-production facility in Switzerland.
Their products are used in all aspects of the film industry, from Bollywood to Hollywood. This includes engineering design, production, visual effects, postproduction, lighting and film laboratories. They also help the medical industry with surgical imaging and data scanning in hospitals and research facilities.
Arri have won 18 Scientific and Technology Academy Awards, the Oscars for their innovations.
The 16mm range is renowned for its Silent Reflex technology and the BL has a swan type viewfinder allowing film crews to take quicker action shots with more precision.
The Arriflex 35, built in 1937, was the first ever 35mm camera used in the motion picture industry and the BL range, with its 2 integrated camera system and Zeiss lenses has changed the landscape of 35 mm film making.
Arriflex has also grasped the potential of the new digital technology with a range of digital and HD cameras that are widely used in blockbuster films over the last 10 years.
