Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, BOBST is a company that provides printing machinery consultancy and manufacturing across the world. Formed in 1890 by Joseph Bobst as a printing supply shop, the company is now renowned for its expertise in binding and finishing, especially die cutting, coating and laminating. Company headquarters are still in Switzerland and the company’s major manufacturing plants are in Asia, America and Europe.
BOBST has a global network, dating from its first expansion into France, in 1936, North America, in 1965 and Asia in the 1990’s. In 1938 BOBST launched its first industrial scale printing manufacturing range of products and in 1940 the world’s first autoplaten die cutter was released.
BOBST offers a range of products including coating, laminating, printing, converting inline and standard converting. These products include litho laminating, rotogravure printing, flat bed die cutting and carton web fed converting. Many industries utilize BOBST printing machinery including packaging, commercial print, label manufacture as well as security, tobacco and industrial manufacturing.
In addition to these products BOBST offer a range of maintenance, consultancy and implementation support. This includes tooling, spare parts, consumables, training and inspection. BOBST also offer a performance solutions service enabling companies to maximise the effectiveness of their printing objectives.
BOBST has grown through merger and acquisition over the years, often launching into a new territory through merging with an established company. This policy of growth through partnership is still the case with recent collaboration with Kodak and Shanghai Eternal Machinery in China.
