OCE are a company from the Netherlands that specializes in the development, manufacture and distribution of printer and copier hardware, software and solutions across the world. Based in Venlo in the Netherlands, OCE was acquired by Canon in 2010, and is now part of the Canon brand.
With over 20,000 employees in over 100 countries, OCE can trace their roots back to 1877 with the foundation of a family business making machines to color butter and margarine. Not until 1919 did the company produce their first products for the printing industry, with the launch of wide format blueprint printers.
The company changed its name to OCE in 1927. Through major acquisitions in 1966, and later in 2005 when it took over Imagistics, a USA fax, copier and printer seller, OCE became one of the world’s leading producers of printing solutions.
Its current range includes office printers, copying systems, wide format printers, systems for technical documentation and color display imaging. The wide format machines are used extensively in architecture, construction, education and advertising.
OCE have always been associated with innovation. Its large format copier range, launched in 1984, was the world’s first and more recently, in 2008, its OCE Tonerpearls technology is able to turn toner into gel, to create highly efficient, high quality printer imagery at a fraction of the cost. The twin Pagestream continuous feed digital press has also revolutionized continuous printing at a fraction of the cost of previous machines.
