Trumpf is a German company, based in Ditzingen, Stuttgart. The company are manufacturers of metal fabrication machinery and industrial lasers. They are a truly global company with production and manufacturing plants throughout Europe and USA, and also China and Mexico.
The business is split into 3 units; machine tools, laser technology and electronics and medical technology.
The core business is machine tools for flexible sheet metal processing, for punching, forming and bending of metal.
The company employs over 9,000 employees and sells its products through a global network of over 150 distributors.
Trumpf were founded in 1923, making flexible shafts for attachable tools used in the dental and printing industries. In 1934 the company produced the world’s first motor driven shears for cutting sheet metal and this signaled a change in the key focus of the company. With a history of innovation Trumpf are acknowledged to have produced the world’s first motor guidance system for cutting metal sheets, in 1957 and the introduction of laser technology in metal cutting and fabrication in 1971.
In 2003 Trumpf launched the world’s first 4kw disk laser widening the scope of the market to include scanner welding and other applications in metal fabrication.
Trumpf have won many awards for their innovations, such as the Trumatic and Trulaser range. The Trulaser in 2009 was awarded Tool of the Year in London at the World Tool and Metal awards.
More recently the TruLaser 5030 fiber won innovations awards at the international technology trade show for sheet metal processing “EuroBLECH 2010” in Hannover.
