Ulma Packaging is a Spanish company with 17 subsidiaries worldwide and 51 distributors. The company provides packaging machines, equipment, sales, service and software support. Ulma Packaging is part of the global Ulma group who own businesses that operate in construction, forklift transport, agriculture, precast systems, conveyors, piping and logistics.
In 2010 Ulma packaging merged with the US logistics and packaging company Harpak and the company is now called Harpak-Ulma.
Ulma packaging create machines and solutions including flow wrapping, vertical wrapping, thermoforming, shrink wrapping and specialist wrapping. These machines are used widely in the food and beverage industry, both fresh and frozen. Their products are also used in the medical industry, with blister packs and pill packaging, retail, electronics, household, publishing, chemical, automobile office and toy industries.
The company has been committed to creating more environmentally friendly products and in recent years have been widely acclaimed for their innovation with new technology, such as the Hygiene thermo former machine ,awarded the best technology award at Globalpack in Cologne in 2010 ,and the V400 tray sealing machine winning the same award in 2012. Ulma are world renowned for their solutions for handling, line manufacturing and shrinking products in a hygienic setting.
Ulma were formed in the Basque Country in 1964 and have their headquarters and technology centres in Onati in Spain. Research and development and new technology is carried out in their factory in Illertissen, Germany. Other production factories are in Romania and Brazil. The company now employs over 4,000 staff worldwide.
