Computer System

The Computer System is a Standard 483DX2 running at 66MHz. In operating mode it is running LAFOUDA Solutions software to interact with the other system components.

Vacuum System

The Vacuum System Controls the trip of the sample vise, and the laser stop. Ti is self-contained and regulated by the computer via a pressure transducer. The nominal pressure for the vacuum chamber is barometric minus 6 psi. The vacuum is used to power the vise via a pedal under the Vibration Isolation Table, and the laser stop which opens only when the arm is down.

Signal Acquisiton System

Signal acquisition is dependent on all systems in the LAMBDA08 but is localized on the optical table. The following is an overview of how a measurement is made.

Optical SAS

The laser beam is defected off the sampl and into an optical detector. Any Deflection of the sample translates into an electrial signal. The sample can be deflected by acoustic and thermal noise as well as the magnetic field.

Machine is capable of measureing magnetostriction down to 10-8
